Product Template / Variant (delegated inheritance)

OpenERP uses an example of delegation inheritance with product template.

Product Template is my item template, and product_product is my variation of the product.

What I do not see, is any functionality out of box that will allow creation of multiple product_product records. What I want is to have one template, but have many different versions for a sales channel.

Example:
Amazon - different name/description/price etc
eBay - different name/description/price etc

I was thinking of creating a selection widget that would change the view based on the selected sales channel. However, I see no functionality that would allow creation of multiple product_product records.

I see many references to product_variant_multi, but this is not an OpenERP core module. I would like to understand if OpenERP developed this functionality, or it is only partially implemented, ( a way for me to write my own feature) like product_variant_multi
