MTO Make to order in stock

Asked by Kyle Waid

With MTO (make to order) I noticed that it generates a manufacturing order upon order. This is the expected behavior. But, I can have stock on this product. If I have the product in stock and I order it, it will still generate a manufacturing order ignoring any current stock value. Does this make sense? Should we not allow to have stock if it is a make to order, or should we deduct stock when in stock and ordered?

Thanks, Kyle

In OpenERP, MTO ensures a quasi-constant stock level.
If you do have the product in stock when you get the order, the delivery will be made from the stock, but the stock will be replenished by a procurement order (production/purchase).
Each manual procurement order on MTO products will lead to stock inflation.
