Question regarding the handling of Barcodes in MRP

Asked by conexus.at

While you can print a Barcode for each Workcenter (why?), in Standard Addons there is no option to have a Barcode for each Work Order in the Manufacturing Order Report.
That way, a worker could directly access the Operation he would like to work on.
Has this perhaps already been taken into consideration for future Developments?

We don’t really understand the concept of having a barcode for each Workcenter, how does the workflow look in this way?

Thanks!

Conexus,
I think the use case you're looking for is associated with mrp_operations.
At some of our clients we see this situation.
Each order has a "traveler" associated with is - which is a folder with a variety of order/manufacturing details.
This traveler can have a bar code associated with it.

Many of our manufacturing managers want specific performance metrics associated with each operation. The manufacturing employees punch in and out of each operation. With a bar code reader - they can do this for each operation. Start, Stop, pause, etc.

The managers can access this information in the future to look at productivity associated with a operation, worker, etc.

Adding a barcode to a report for a "traveler" would be relatively straightforward.

At least that is how I understand the flow.

Hopefully, this helps.

Can you help with this problem?
