Manage stocks by product categories

Hello,

Is it possible today to manage stocks by product categories with existing addons/modules?

Indeed, in many cases, it could be more helpful to manage stock settings by product categories.
    I think particularly to : - set minimum stock levels by product categories.
                                      - set pulled or pushed flows by product categories (automatic moves between two stock locations thanks to the stock_location_pull addon).

I think it's very irksome to manage these kind of settings product by product, even if it must be still possible.

Hello ,

Stock is always maintain product wise only, Because there are so many other dependency related to product individually and inventory methods are also maintained for individual product only.
You can not create purchase order or sale order for category instead of product.

Would you please let me know whether this is appropriate or not?

Ok, I understand well the necessity of the product wise, but it shouldn't to prevent us from managing stocks by product categories too.

I'm surprised that nobody isn't looking for stocks management by product categories yet. It seems to me an important requirement for logistic problematics.
At the beginning of one project or even later, set minimum stock levels for each product is really tiresome!

I just wanted to know if somebody has developed or used ( or planned to develop ) an addon module to manage this kind of settings by product categories or with other methods of product categorizations as families

I rather suggest to create wizard to change many product settings (like minimum stock rules) according to categories. It will do what romain wants and not break current functionality.

Can you help with this problem?
