packing list not showing total weight and carrier

I am facing 2 problems with packing list.
Action: Created a sale order with a product. Product's weight was set to 2Kg. In sale order line quantity selected was 4 so order line correctly showing total 8Kg weight. Set the carrier as well on sale order. Confirmed sale order. Now on packing list i am facing following 2 problems:

Problem 1:- Packing list showing weight as 0.0 whereas sale order line for the corresponding sale order shows weight correctly as 8Kg. And becoz of this problem the carrier charges based on weight dont get added to invoice.

Problem 2:- for the same packing list the view stock.picking.out.form showing carrier correctly but delivery.picking.out.form showing carrier field blank.

Can you please guide me on this and if its a bug then please tell me a quick fix for it.

Hello Akshay Jain,

It is allowed to apply carrier only service type product, If you will assign any product as service type then all the weight related fields are going to be read only, So How can you assign carrier for normal product?

No no no no no no no...u got it all wrong...complete misunderstanding...may be my fault that I could not explain the problem correctly. Apologies!!

I created a product (Lets call it 'A') that is stockable and has weight=2kg. Then I created a service type product (Lets call it 'D') for delivery. Now I created a carrier and a carrier grid and this carrier grid has freight charges dependent on weight. So there are two products- one is a stackable product, product A, with weight=2Kg and another is a service product, product D, for delivery. And a delivery grid with delivery charges dependent on weight of goods. Now when i create a sale order i select the stockable product A and its quantity=4 so that sale order line correctly shows the weight to be 8kg. Next i set the delivery method. Next when i confirm the order a packing list is created. The problem lies here. When packing list is created it shows weight to be 0 whereas it should show weight as 8kg. And becoz packing list does not have a correct weight set therefore when invoice is created then the delivery charges are set to 0 becoz weight in packing list is 0. So problem is NOT delivery but the packing list not showing the correct total weight.

Let me know if I am not clear or if u need any other detail to answer my question.
