round ceiling

Asked by utku dede on 2010-06-10

hi there,
i was very excited when i first found out that there was such a software on ubuntu. so i didn't loose anytime to install it on my ubuntu lucid karma installed computer. i followed exactly what was told on homepage. but on first start configuration it gives me a round ceiling error after i clicked ok button an advisory window says database cannot be created. after all i cannot run the software because of this database issue. i have last edition mysql server installed. i couldn't figure out what is going on although i am trying to solve the issue for 3 days. can you tell me what might it be i am doing wrong, thanks..

Thanks for your reply. Well let me tell what I have done a little bit
detailed this time;
I have installed openmolar by using the way that was described in
wikidot. Adding repository and then sudo install. After installation I
started the wizard and saw that mysql server is necessary so I quitted
installation and installed mysql (last version 5.1 or something like
that) via ubuntu software center. Then I tried to finish set up
(oenmolar) and round ceiling error happened. And then I tried to
uninstall and re-install the packag this time from ubuntu software
center. And i don't remember the vesion I first installed but this one
was 2.06 lucid and I tried to uninstall and reinstall both of them
(mysql and openmolar) several times but nothing changed. Everytime I
set up password for mysql and enter it correctly when it is prompted
by openmolar. Always the same error is there ; "ROUND CEiLiNG" and
advisory ' database not creAted'. What might be the problem, thanks
for your helping, it is appreciated.

I need you to try a few things to help me diagnose this.

drop to a terminal and type
~$ mysql -u root -p

and enter the password for your root mysql user.

can you connect to the server that way?? if not, please copy-paste any error.

secondly, drop to a terminal and type
~$ openmolar --firstrun

and copy/paste the output here.

utku dede (dedeutku) said : #4

Yes, i can connect (i guess :) , you can see it in the output). here it is;

utku@utku-laptop:~$ mysql -u root -p
Enter password:
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 35
Server version: 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.3 (Ubuntu)

Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the current input
statement.

mysql> \q
Bye

utku@utku-laptop:~$ openmolar --firstrun
trying to install your environment language tr_TR.UTF-8
OpenMolar
 - Version 0.2.0
 - Bzr Revision No. 716
error in creatDemoDB 'ROUND_CEiLiNG'

utku... thanks. Now I see the problem.

similar thing to what happens here... https://bugs.launchpad.net/python/+bug/467397

try this
~$ export LANG="" && openmolar

and/or this

~$ export LANG="en_US.utf8" && openmolar

utku dede.
great news, and thanks for the translations.

on that front, look out for a package "openmolar-lang" which will appear in the PPA over the next week or so, and be updated regularly as your new translations get pushed up. Of course, you may wish to install your translations manually.. but keep in touch because I really appreciate the work translators have put into the application.

openmolar 0.2.1 release (target 30th August 2010) should make it possible for you to configure the application for your own practice, set feescale logic without having to delve into the code etc....

please let me know if you find any bugs specific to your locale.

regards

Neil.
