Why was the column action in object ir.ui.menu designed the way it is?

Wouldn't it be better to have 2 columns such as action_model and action_id instead of making it a function field and storing the data in ir.values

Can someone from the OpenERP engineering team offer some insight?

One menu should be linked to one action only which will then look up for the views.

Having 1 column instead of 2 will be normalined way.

In case you have better suggestion, you can create a blueprint.
