New York Taxes

Asked by Carlos Liebana

Hello from Spain!

We are studying a prospect with 5 shops around the world, one of them in New York. We've been told that the products being sold there have 8,875% of taxes, except if the sell price is lower than 110$ (even on the fly when a pricelist or curstom discount is applied) where the tax is 0% .

Before we start a custom development, is this feature currently implemented in OpenERP US Localization?

Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Not only do I think that this is not specific to the US (it might very well be something needed in other countries), but additionally this is not something needed by the vast majority of US businesses IMO (but I'm happy to learn). So I don't consider this should land in l10n_us.
The easiest and fastest way to do this is to write an if statement in Python in the "Special computation" tab of the tax form.
Otherwise, you would be better off writing an independent module that does this specifically.

You might also want to have a look at the Avatax module that should take care of selecting the correct tax automatically through the Avalara web service:

Can you help with this problem?
