Bistaship or Novacoast's shipping product?

Asked by Mike Lindsay

I notice that Bistaship has https://code.launchpad.net/~faisal-basar/openerp-usa/BistaShipping a 'branch' under openerp-usa. I am not a programmer, so I don't understand Bazaar very well. Does this mean he is trying to get his module into Openerp-USA? Should I be using his module for shipping or the novacoast ones? My goal would be to use USPS, UPS, and DHL.

I have the same question. Looking for FedEx and USPS shipping to be able to get shipping quotes from FedEx Web services and print shipping labels during fulfillment of delivery orders. Our consultant looked into the Bista module and said it was very incomplete and the code was quite messy and choir quite a bit of work to implement/get it working. He tried for a while and gave up on it for the time being. I also reviewed the video again and noted Bista Shipping does not provide shipping quote on sales order during the quoting process this customer wants to know the shipping cost. Also this is needed so that payment can be collected for shipping cost. Finally does not print shipping labels as far as I can tell one for failing delivery order. NovaPoint's solution sounds like it will be better developed but it is still very early in development.

To decide whether to use this module or the Novacoast ones, you might consider the following:

Check Documentation: Look for documentation or README files associated with each module. This will give you insights into features, compatibility, and usage instructions.

Community Feedback: Check forums, discussions, or community feedback related to both modules. This can provide information on the experiences of other users and any known issues.

Module Features: Compare the features provided by both modules. Consider your specific shipping needs (USPS, UPS, DHL) and see which module better supports those carriers.

Compatibility: Ensure that the module you choose is compatible with your version of OpenERP.

Support and Maintenance: Consider whether the module is actively maintained and supported. Modules that receive regular updates are likely to be more stable and secure.

It's always a good practice to test the module in a non-production environment first to ensure it meets your requirements Certainly, here's a suggestion:
