installation process

Asked by Diamandis Theodoropoulos

Hi, I am a novice to Linux and would like very much to get your Open AS Communication Gateway wokring, however I have following your, "Installing the Open AS Communication Gateway in 5 easy Steps" document and I am stuck at Point 3 in the, "Quick install instructions". where it says, "make", I type the word, "make" and press return, then nothing really happens nothing is being installed or to be clear I do not see anything to me that suggests that the installation is now complete. Am I missing something, or am I supposed to add some more text or commands after the word, "make"?? I am just not getting it. Your installation document seems like it is a simple install, but to me I get stuck with the word "make" I am not sure why. Please advise, thanks.

Hello, on which system do you try to install the AS Communication Gateway (Ubuntu Server?).

The make command stands for the GNU Make tool. Is there any error message, that the command could not be found? If yes, try to install it with "apt-get install make" (I assume, that you are using a debian-like system such as ubuntu).

If make is already installed (what should be on default ubuntu server installation, I think): Have you been in the right directory (you must switch into the open-as-cgw directory after checking out the source code)?

Is there any output after typing make, which could help us debugging your problem?

Can you help with this problem?
