some keys not working

just found onboard -and it has a couple features I really like . But , I can't seem to get the arrow keys or forward delete key to work. most of the time these keys do nothing , but on one occasion the arrow keys were activating one of the alt keys and playing an odd sound effect . thoughts?

note, im running gentoo , and have tried to install from source as well as using the deepin and wjn overlays. 've
also, i typically use rdp to access the system running onboard

EDIT --it something to do with xrdp. arrow keys work fine if im in my office in front of my desktop ,but not remotely using rdp
