Alternatives for showing keyboard

Asked by Jeffrey J. Martin

Thank you for all your work on Onboard.
I'm using Cinnamon on Mint Linux.
I don't like the floating icon and I don't like having to pull up the toolbar at the bottom of the screen tapping the onboard icon and then tapping show.
Are there other ways to make the keyboard show when using uncooperative programs like Chromium and Firefox?

One way I found. I added Onboard as a menu item in the "Cinnemenu" and then dragged and dropped it to the panel.
Now I can slide my finger down the bottom edge to show the panel and tap to show onboard.
I would like to be able to do something like slide my finger to the side.
