Is there a way to remove the "X" off the keyboard?

I have the keyboard up and I constantly hit the "X" button that closes the keyboard. How would I go about changing this so that there isn't a "close" button on the keyboard anymore?

I believe you can edit the layout xml file and svg file to remove it.
