Can I use a different key-layout for Onboard than I use for my physical keyboard?

Asked by Adam Mackler

When I use a physical keyboard I touch-type using the "Programmer Dvorak" layout. When I use the Onboard virtual keyboard I am not touch typing, rather I am looking at the screen. The appearance of the Programmer Dvorak is completely unfamiliar to me, all the more so because my physical keyboard is an ergonomic design that has many keys in non-standard locations.

Trying to do on-screen typing looking at Onboard is frustrating when it has the keys laid out it its idea of Programmer Dvorak. I ALWAYS want Onboard to display the QWERTY layout and I ALWAYS want my physical keyboard to use the Programmer Dvorak layout.

Is there any way to configure Onboard so that it always and automatically displays the keys laid out in a standard QWERTY arrangement without causing my physical keyboard to leave Programmer Dvorak mode, and without the need to manually switch between layouts every time I switch between physical and on-screen typing?

I am using Debian 9.5 (Stretch); Linux version 4.9.0-6-amd64; KDE Plasma 5.8.6.
