Could the Onboard Icon/Launcher in the systray be modified?

Asked by Joe Linux

I would like to the behavior to be single left -click to open "Onboard" when "Onboard" keyboard is closed; and if "Onboard is open, a single left-click on the Icon would close it. The menu as it is now could be launched by right-clicking. This would make opening and closing "Onboard more simple and direct without the need to respond to a menu. Would it be possible to do this?

I'd like that too, this is the behavior we try to achieve wherever possible. Our Onboard Indicator in GNOME Shell has it, our AppIndicator in KDE Plasma has it and the old GtkStatusIcon in e.g. MATE has it.

Unity's AppIndicator doesn't allow to react to left clicks, however. The best I could do was showing on middle-click. This behavior was a (highly controversial) design decision by Canonical. You would probably have to ask the Unity project to get it changed. If it ever does (doubt it) I'll get it into our Indicator right away.

Thanks, I actually use Maté on Mint `18.1. I just changed to the GtkStatuxion Systray Icon, and it works the way I wished. Thank you so much..
