Onboard layout customize

Asked by WG-

Hello,

I want to customize the layout of the onboard keyboard. I see namely in the preferences menu underneath "Layouts" "Personalise current layout" and "Open custom layouts folder" standing. Now is my question simple how do I customize the layout? I can't find any details about how-to create a custom keyboard layout.

Hello,

Thanks for your interest in onboard.

To come to your question: there is no direct way to customize the layout. By clicking the "Personalize current layout" button, a copy of the current layout gets created in the layouts folder and it has the new chosen name. Afterwards, you have to navigate to the layouts folder and edit the .onboard and .svg files manually.

There should be a file on the system with instruction about how to edit the files. That file should be located under file:///usr/share/onboard/docs/layouts.html

The file is a bit outdated (for example, it still uses the name "sok" instead of "onboard", but I think that it should at least get you started.

If you can't find the instructions on your computer, you can get a copy of it from the repository of onboard:
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~onboard/onboard/main/files/head%3A/docs/

Cheers,

Francesco.
