ntrig calibrator on xt2

Asked by Mario Verbelen

I'm waiting and searching for the multi-touch support on dell xt2
I did already many trick's that I found on many places

My latest one was ntrig-calibrator

(I still don't known which firmware version I have, sins I get this laptop without that other "OS")
I'm seeing so many ghost klicks that I created a ghost.desktop to stop the ntrig multitouch
(command-> xinput set-prop 'N-Trig MultiTouch' 'Device Enabled' 0)
Then only the pen is working

Now that I dit test calib.sh I was seeing the folowing:

=====> mario@xt2:~/ntrig-calibrator$ sudo ./calib.sh
[sudo] password for mario:
make: `calib' is up to date.
bus 0

bus 0
done
make: `firmware' is up to date.
firmware version: 00000000 00000000
mode: 00000000
=====

After the second run I get
=====> mario@xt2:~/ntrig-calibrator$ sudo ./calib.sh
ls: cannot access /sys/bus/hid/drivers/ntrig/*1B96*: No such file or directory
basename: missing operand
Try `basename --help' for more information.
make: `calib' is up to date.

firmware version: 00000000 00000000
mode: 00000000

After that the device looks like gone, ( until cold reboot)
even the pen is not working anymore

Do I need to wait until 11.04 or can I help someone with checking out what is wrong here?

firmware version: 00000000 00000000
mode: 00000000

I had these values with the old ntrig firmware (which may not even support multitouch).
Unfortunately, I don't know a way to update it without using the other OS.
An Ntrig developer said (July 2010) he will release a firmware tool for linux, but nothing appeared since.

If you update the firmware, you'll have full support of multitouch in ubuntu from Maverick.
