Asked by Stelios Konstantinopoulos

Are there plans to make uTouch available for inclusion in other distributions (e.g., Debian)?

Hello Stelios,

That is the hope. The idea is that an open source multi-touch and gesture stack can be developed and supported for everyone. We have even discussed the possibility of running (parts of the stack) on other operating systems like Windows and Mac OS X.

Hope this helps!

From my limited tests done tonight, I could get mtview to run under Debian (see it in action there [1]).
Just needed to rebuild some packages: utouch-{evemu,frame,geis,grail}.

Important note: Obviously, gestures do not work as Debian's xorg-xserver (1.9.4) does not have the X GestureExtension.

Just got the X GestureExtension to work under Debian unstable. Consequently, ginn also works.
I'm considering sharing my packages if there's interest.

Modified packages; used patches from Natty:
xorg-server-1.9.4
xserver-xorg-input-evdev-2.6.0
