Can Windows (Offline) iHRIS be accessed over an Internet connection?

Asked by Shannon Turlington

There has been some confusion over whether Windows iHRIS--formerly titled Offline iHRIS--can be accessed over an Internet connection, or whether it will run only in a non-Internet environment.

In the latest release of Offline iHRIS, an option was included to allow users to access the installation over a network connection, either a local area network or the Internet. While Offline iHRIS was originally developed to be used in an environment where there is little or no Internet connectivity, it will also work over an Internet connection. We have changed the software's name to Windows iHRIS to alleviate confusion. We are currently preparing an information sheet on the pros and cons of using Linux-based iHRIS versus Windows iHRIS, which will be published on our wiki.
