Is this project still alive?

Asked by David N. Welton

Hi,

It looks like it's been more than a year since anyone committed anything to the codebase here. Is it still alive? Has it moved?

It looks like good code: is anyone interested in working on it/forking it if the maintainers have moved on?

Hi David,

I am the author of this. Unfortunately I do not have time to maintain it now. Emacs has also had some major changes which made it much more difficult for me at the moment (since I rely on some of my own patches to Emacs which are not in Emacs yet).

I have told this before, but maybe I should make this clear in the project description as well.

I was interested in working on this code at some point. It worked pretty well for what I was using it for.

Nowadays, I never write PHP, so the code is of limited use to me, and I have other things to work on.

@lborgman - thanks for the quick answer. I completely understand about not having time - I have projects of my own in that state, but it would be really cool to add anyone who's interested in maintaining it - if such a person exists - or if nothing else, yeah, stating on the project page that it's not really active any more. Recommending an actively developed alternative might also be nice, but I haven't found any so far :-(

Thank you for your code and your time!

Thanks lborgman, that solved my question.

Joel, the project is not limited to PHP. The main part is a general framework in Emacs for support of multiple major modes in one file. (Unfortunately it is probably still impossible, but I am not totally sure with the inclusion of lexical let. Someone is perhaps interested in looking into that?)

And I have placed a lot of small utilities in the project too. Things that now should be moved to ELPA if someone has the time. ;-)

Thanks for reminding me, David.

Oh totally. I mostly just mean that I have no longer felt the pain that previously caused me to reach for nxhtml.

That might change some day soon though!
