Why does nXhtml change my background color?

Short answer: It doesn't.

Longer answer:

In multi major mode your background color may not look as it usually. The background color is still the same, but you do not see it because nXhtml (or rather mumamo) has added new background colors for each chunk.

The purpose of this is to make it easier to see where chunks with different major modes begin and end.

If you do not like the chunk background colors you can change them or remove them. If you want to remove them temporarily you can toggle them with

  M-x mumamo-no-chunk-coloring

If you want to change them try

   M-x customize-group mumamo-display

to find out how you can change them. Especially the option `mumamo-chunk-coloring' might interest you.

*Note 1* - The chunk background colors for dark backgrounds may not be very optimal. If someone has suggestions for better defaults then please suggest them.

*Note 2* - There are various more complicated tips on the net on how to do this. You might tell about this FAQ to make it more simple for other people.
