nunit license clarification acknowledgment clause

Asked by Julian Taylor

I have a question concerning the nunit license.
Specifically the first clause:

> If you use this software in a product, an acknowledgment (see the following) in the product documentation is required.

What exactly does "use this software in a product" mean?
Is the acknowledgment required when nunit is only used for building an other product and nunit is not linked nor distributed along with the product?

Hi,

"Use this software in a product" means creating a product of your own that
incorporates parts of NUnit, either by linking or by using/modifying the
NUnit
source code.

If you merely re-distribute NUnit without either linking to it or reusing
any of
the source code, you must include the NUnit license.

If you don't distribute NUnit at all, but merely use it in your development
process,
there are no notice requirements.
