ntfs-config how can I set the flags for the drives like exec or dev

Asked by Jan Girke

Hi
I try to follow this article:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCDCustomizationFromScratch
and when I try to use debootstrap to install into the chroot directory I get:
/usr/sbin/debootstrap: 396: cannot create /media/.../LiveCD/chroot/test-dev-null: Permission denied
E: Cannot install into target '/media/.../LiveCD/chroot' mounted with noexec or nodev
How can I set those flags/attributes?
:) Jan

This is not related to ntfs-config.
Please have a look at some fstab help/tutorial.

This tool is missing something then.

- The only aim of this tool is to enable/disable read/write of NTFS device
- This tool doesn't set those flags

There is nothing missing here.
You should edit fstab by yourself.

I don't care editing /etc/fstab but the problem is that there is no GUI tool that does it for newbies.
You already put together this tool. Why don't you add that?

Cluttering this tool with advanced options is not a solution, and I will not do that.
Long time a go I wrote a tool for what you want to do: https://launchpad.net/disk-manager
But it is not maintain; so not sure it works well. You can play with it if you want.

Oops I never build from source.
That is going to be trouble.
I will try some time later.
Maybe they introduce it into
ubuntu if it works again.
