Thank you for reporting this issue.

I think you're messing some things together:

1. yes I can confirm there are difficulties when a user wants to select the whole filesystem (i.e. the root '/' directory)
2. I really doubt nssbackup created that folder '/root' - this folder is the home-directory of the admin (the root user) and is always present within a Linux filesystem.

In order to check if a backup was created you should inspect the backup destination you've defined.

I'll investigate this further. Providing some information would help:
- how did you include your '/' root directory?
- was a backup done?

Thanks.

You're correct in that the app did not create /root (i.e. it already existed): sorry about the confusion. I included the /root directory by selecting root from under Places after clicking Add Directory for Include. Backup of /root was done. I expected backup of / to be done, as per Simple Backup. Otherwise, how would I be able to backup / and all its sub-directories?
