what does nova-conductor do?

What dose nova-conductor do?
I search it on openstack.org, but find nothing about it.
If it is not running, what will happen?

It appears on openstack grizzly , and used for nova-compute db access proxy. in the future, nova-compute will not has no direct access to the central DB. this is mainly for security . all db requests are proxyed by nova-conductor through MQ.
if nova-conductor isn't running , instances cann't update it's state ,you cann't create instance as normal.
