Nova-volume attaching ∞

Asked by drolfe

Hi All,

Trying to get openstack cloud up and running. Using Ubuntu 12.04 and essex. Followed the Ubuntu Cloud Infrastructure with MAAS and Juju howto on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuCloudInfrastructure

Everything seems to work except I can't attached volumes, just hang on attaching, If I try to reboot the vm is now also hangs

See below for command line details

And this is in the nova-compute logs

Please note nova-compute and nova-volume are different nodes

Also what interface on nova-compute node should the iscsi connection be made from ?

The source address connecting to nova-volume ?

Bridge internal or public interface ?

Someone on IRC thought this issue might be caused by the cloud image, ubuntu 11 in this case not loading the kernel modules acpiphp and pci_hotplug at boot.

I haven't had a chance to check the vm as yet but are these kernel modules required on the instance kernel for openstack volume attach to work ?

This is all fixed now. Turned out to be a weird network issue on the compute node

all working
