Cactus Nova Install

Asked by Shweta P

Hi,

I am just starting out on this project. I am trying to install the Nova cactus release. I want to have the cloud controller and the compute node on 2 different servers.

So the steps I am trying to follow are here

http://docs.openstack.org/cactus/openstack-compute/admin/content/installing-the-cloud-controller.html

Does this procedure list the installation for the cactus release? I am confused because there is the Cactus release tar file available for download on the main page of Nova but in the instructions listed in the link above there is no instructions on using this tar file instead we are pointing to a repository ppa:nova-core/trunk
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nova-core/trunk which seems to have the earlier release.

I might be looking at it in a completely wrong way. Please point me to the steps for installation of Nova - for the cactus release.

If you're installing via ppa you'll want to use ppa:nova-core/release

See https://launchpad.net/~nova-core/+archive/release

Note that nova and glance are 2011.2. That's the Cactus release.
