Multiple notification bubbles?

Is there any particular reason that there's no way to allow multiple bubbles if more than one program is sending notifications, like Growl for the Mac? I can get why that might not always be desirable, but a configuration setting or a gconf key would be nice.

I agree, this is a must-have feature. Seeing a message pop up 10 to 30 seconds after the event because there happened to be one other event before it just reduces the usefulness of the notifications overall. The point is to let the user know about it as soon as possible, not to tell them up to a minute later depending on how many notifications there were before it.
