Is there any control or Indicator Applet to close thrown notifikations?

Asked by anwiba

I want a tool to control the notifications. The min. control is to close the notifcation over user action.
The current way to control the visibility over mouse position blocks the mouse, and this blocks me sometimes working until the notification is closed by programmers wish. This is extremely bad and frustrating.

No, currently not.

I could not find a wishlist bug or blueprint related to that. You might want to file a bug (even though I doubt that classifies as a bug) or start a blueprint.

Here is a solution to change the timeout to a shorter period, but not offering a way to close them manually: http://www.webupd8.org/2010/05/finally-easy-way-to-customize-notify.html

Look for the part with »bubble-expire-timeout«.

Mark Shuttleworth says:
»The design experience of Notify-OSD is what it is. Changing the style is one thing, changing the behaviour of the bubbles is another thing entirely. We are just NOT going to support simultaneous display, the design is queued and serialized.«

I guess »behavior« incorporates closing. Unless it is officially implemented, there will be no way.

thank you for your answers

the configuration tools are not bad, but they are only a small step to give me back the control over my desktop.
I miss a tab to set the notification level and to block notifications for specified applictions.

To that was Mark Shuttleworth had said.

Design is import to rise up the amount of users and changing behavour is ok, but losing usability and disabling control features is the way to lose users.

I hope the gone features will be implemented offeicially soon.

Can you help with this problem?
