Nightshade doesn't work in Windows 7

Asked by fje

Just instaled Nightshade 10.11.1 in my Windows 7 and it doesn't run. It gives error "Microsoft Visual C ++ runtime Library error.
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way".

I tried to pass it thru the compatibility tool of Win7 telling it to work in "Windows XP SP3 mode" (I had it working in my previous system) and also tried to run it "as administrator", but no way, it doesn't work.

Any idea of help?

Thanks.

We've seen this problem emerge on systems with lower end video adapters, typically integrated Intel based chipsets. Windows 7 in of itself is not the problem. You can try updating to the latest drivers for your video card. If you're still unable to run then you can install the previous version, 10.7.1, from http://nightshadesoftware.org/downloads/ until we're able to resolve the issue.

It worked ! Thanks. I came to 10.7.1 following your suggestion and it works... well first time I run it it takes much time with black screen before the logo comes, I felt it was still wrong (as I read in another question), but some patiente time afterwards, logo came and NightShade started to load things and worked !

Thanks for your help.

BTW, the laptop where I was trying to run it is somehow an "old one", but not too much, it is an IBM Thinkpad T42 with a graphics ATI Mobility Radeon 7500. Hope this would help to find a solution for the latest releases. Is there any way I could be psted of a final (I'm ready to test any beta) solution?

Thanks again.
