Laptop problems with latest version

Asked by elementcxv

I'm having the same runtime problem that has already been reported for laptops with integrated chipset. Everything worked for a long time with the Beta version, but I decided to update to the latest version. I use the program a lot on my laptop and really want to get it back up and running again. Can an earlier version of the program without the problem be made available? I don't know which version first introduced the problem, but the Beta version worked fine.

Try editing your config.ini file to have:

fullscreen = false

and make sure your resolution (screen_w, screen_h) makes sense.

If that doesn't help, in the config.ini [rendering] section put:

flag_shaders = false

Changes made with no improvement. I did not find a config.ini file as such. There are two instances of default_config.ini : One in the Config folder, and one in the Data folder, so I modified both of those.

If you are using Windows, there is a shortcut to the config file right
next to the Nightshade launcher in the Start menu.

The default config files are only used if your main config.ini is
missing.

OK, I found that one and changed it as well with no improvement. Are there older versions of the program still available?

Yes, see:

Although we would prefer to try to solve your problem with the newer
versions so you aren't stuck on an old version.

Version 10.7.1 is now installed and working great, and I was able to restore the fullscreen and shader settings with no problem. Whatever is causing the problem appears to be unique to the latest version. I'm not feeling stuck with an older version, after all 10.7 is newer than the 10.2 version that I've been using! I'm not sure what I'm missing, if anything of significance at all. I'm thrilled to be up and running again! I do apperciate that you want to fix the newer version, and I'm ready to try out any changes that you come up with.
