quick access to scripts

Asked by Andy Dolph

Is there a way (and if not, maybe this is a feature request for down the road) to have quick access to multiple scripts? IE map keys or key combinations to run different scripts? I'd love to not have to go through the menu every time I want a script.

Another way to do this that would be very cool down the road would be to be able to use a 2nd display (say the built in display on a laptop) as a control surface giving quick access to toggles and scripts and such...

I know that the Digitarium systems use a handheld remote, but for me, I'd much prefer a console on a 2nd screen- to me that would be ideal.

Maybe even better would be if the there was also a way to run the console as a separate app on a 2nd pc (say a tablet) that talks to the Nightshade pc that's actually driving the projector over a network.

Now I'm just dreaming.... but for the time being, a way to map scripts to keys would be just great.

Thanks!!

Andy

There is no current feature to map keys to scripts.

However, we do plan to add this and are currently working on a control API for Nightshade so that other applications or interfaces can control Nightshade.

ok - thanks.

I think that being able to map keys to scrips would be a nice "quick and dirty" way of doing some of the control in the short term, but having a control API would be just great.

Thanks!

Has there been an update on this since 2010?
I hope so, it would be really nice.
Is there a file that dictates the key map we can modify?

Hello Arno,

The Digitarium has two methods for quick-access scripting. First, with the Universal Console, you can control everything from either an iPad or a desktop if Firefox web browser. To learn more, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhpDZKLao-4

Second, the new Digitarium remotes have a quick-access script button. This button allows you to access up to 100 scripts without ever entering the menu.
