Which device supports NFC P2P with nfcpy

Asked by Ferit Topcu

Hi,

i'm searching for a nfc-compatible reader which is supported by nfcpy and P2P.

Some postings in the android dev mailing list write that nfcpy is currently the only library whichs supports NFC-P2P LLCP, and soon NPP. => http://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thread/395d47e5e4add537/8c88d9980f2c1134?lnk=gst&q=p2p+nfc+with+nfc+reader#8c88d9980f2c1134

For a project, i want to realize a application where the user is identifying himself with his/her NFC-capable smartphone. To realize a interaction between the a Windows/Linux Desktop PC, i want to implement a simple script which gets a User-ID from the NFC-Smartphone and gives a response to the smartphone.

Is there any NFC-Reader which allows NFC-P2P? Is nfcpy supporting NPP or is there a development schedule ?

kd,

Ferit

Ferit,

nfcpy does have an NPP implementation which works with a Nexus S. An example NPP server shows how to use the server part, a client example is not yet in the repository but trivial. Readers supported by nfcpy are Sony RCS-330/360/370 (bit difficult get outside Japan) and SCM SCL3711 (sold in US afaik). SCL 3711 support is rather new and bugs may still exist. SCL3711 exhibits an odd behavior against a Nexus S in a specific configuration, as yocan read at https://launchpad.net/nfcpy/+announcement/8540u, otherwise it works fine.
