Any document about how Quantum is using GRE tunneling?

Is there a pointer of document about how Quantum is using GRE tunneling? To be more specific, I’m particularly interested in where/how the logical/virtual network identifier is carried compared to NVGRE (which carries that identifier in the GRE Key field).
