Flash Plugin on Firefox

Asked by Nicolas Bönig

Hi,

I installed the netflix-desktop version by using this http://bikefreak.net/cc/?p=328#comment-977 manual and edited it for "skygo". Unfortunately i have some problems installing a flash plugin on firefox running with the patched (?) wine version.
Can anybody help me out?

Thank,

Grettings from GER.

Nico

Hi,

at first a short side note: the intstructions you used look a bit outdated and very over-complicated. There is for example a direct "lovefilm-desktop" package, which can be used to install everything required for lovefilm, besides that its also possible to install "wine-browser-installer" and afterwards create some own symlinks (or start it from a terminal), which can be used for any service (including SkyGo). Does SkyGo work as expected? - If I remember correctly it only works properly with Silverlight5.0, but not with newer versions.

Concerning your question related to Flash:

To install Flash in the same browser you can use the following steps:

* Download the flash player, for example from here:

http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/pdc/13.0.0.182/install_flash_player.exe
(sha256sum: f578925c50816119f22d5bee36a8f11ad2c20c07e7490c7db22c6274955194b5 )

* Run it inside of the wine prefix (I assume you have downloaded the flashplayer to ~/Downloads ):

WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-browser /opt/wine-compholio/bin/wine ~/Downloads/install_flash_player.exe

* Afterwards just follow the instructions on the screen.

Please note that the Flash autoupdater doesn't work properly, so you'll have to install a new version manually if there is a security update.

I hope this answers the question, if not feel free to ask ;-)

Regards,
Sebastian

Hi,

It answers my question, but it didn't solve the problem.

I'm sure it's my fault, but maybe you can tell me i don't have the permission to install the flash player?

nico@nico-keller:~$ WINEPREFIX=HOME$/.wine-browser/opt/wine-compholio/bin/wine /home/nico/Downloads/install_flash_player.exe
bash: /home/nico/Downloads/install_flash_player.exe: Keine Berechtigung

Okay,
after editing the permissions my last question is solved, but.....:

nico@nico-keller:~$ WINEPREFIX=HOME$/nico/.wine-browser/opt/wine-compholio/bin/wine /home/nico/Downloads/install_flash_player.exe
wine: invalid directory HOME$/nico/.wine-browser/opt/wine-compholio/bin/wine in WINEPREFIX: not an absolute path

Thank you for your help
