will there be a lpia version of jaunty?

Asked by Sandman652001

I installed the release candidate of UNR on my Toshiba NB100 everything works fine except for the battery life, when running on battery the i386 Jaunty UNR lasts 40-50 minutes less than the lpia Hardy UNR

You should try the LPIA alternate installer:
http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/ports/releases/9.04/rc/

Search for "LPIA" on that page. By all means come back here and comment on how it worked (or not) for you.

Once installed, if you want the UNR "look and feel", install the addition ubuntu-netbook-remix package.

Thanks or the reply, I tried the alternate installer unfortunately I do not have a cd/dvd drive as many other fellow netbook users. I tried converting the iso to a usb dive with both Unetbootin and the builtin usb drive builder on ibex in both cases all I got on boot was a "Boot Error" message.

Strange, you may want to check the MD5. What exact file did you get ? I used the same tool but in Jaunty, so it's possible it's brokenin Intrepid.

Will installing the Jaunty LPIA alternate install and then installing the ubuntu remix packages do the UNR stuff like turning off services and such to save the writes to and SSD drive or would you have to make all those tweaks manually?
