NO ETHERNET on EEE PC

Asked by yosam

I have a EEE PC 1000 HA., and after installing netbook remix, my ethernet doesn't work. Wireless seems to pick up, but the ethernet simply doesn't. I installed netbook remix from the https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UNR website. This is after several failed attempts at installing eeebuntu from http://www.eeebuntu.org/. Man, if they want to make eeebuntu work on eee pc, they should make the eeebuntu files downloaded from the website work using imagewriter...unetbootin, just doesn't seem to work for me. But anyways, that's besides the point.

What should I do, to get ubuntu working on this beautiful netbook?

Hello Adam,

If you LEFT click on your mouse, and reselect the Ethernet it should boot up again. Again, I'm no pro...so there might be a more eloquent way to resolve the problem.

Netbook Remix unfortunately still hasn't got all the end-user kinks out; and I've read on a lot of forums a lot of people having problems with ethernet's going on and off.

As far as booting up eeebuntu is concerned; we'll I realized to my chagrin, my usb simply hadn't been reformatted properly. Once I got it reformatted properly, it seemed to install.

I ended up returning the eee pc due to MAJOR heating issues with netbook remix/ eeebuntu (something linux still I think has to work on with netbooks; something that I really didn't have time nor the patience to resolve. Just ended up getting a Dell Mini 12 with Ubuntu pre-installed, as the heat problems I've heard are not there (it's passively cooled).

I doubt what I've written will help you much, and I'm not too sure how much more help I can be considering I don't have an eee pc anymore. but let me know anyways.
