how to add lost applets to panel?

Asked by davidstern

After some updates the master volume mixer applet has gone, there was only an empty space left at it's place on the top right. If I right-click, I am allowed to remove, move or block icons. By mistake I removed some other icons (f.ex. the update notifier) of the top panel's right side. I don't know where to click or which file to edit to get back those applets.
I use ubuntu-eee 8.04 hardy on a eee 900.

Thanks for explanation. I did already search in the web but couldn't find.

I got it. I had to click in a very corner to get the panel options context menu and add the notification area from new. Sorry if I made someone busy.

Clicking in the corners only gives me go-home-applet (top left) or notification area (top right). I can't grab the panel to get the context menu and I can't find another way to change its contents. Help...

Right-click on the app icon area and uncheck "Lock to panel". You can now drag the (almost invisible) divider next to the ubuntu icon over to the right to create a space. Right-click in the space to get the panel menu, from which you can choose "Add to panel..."
