The remix is just a different interface, not a complete OS. My previous response was wrong. I don't use the image creator for the remix. You can install a regular version of ubuntu and then install the remix to change the interface. Plz read ALL the instructions first.

You do not need to use the image creator to setup a plain ubuntu installation, just use the freely available distro CD/DVD's.

The image creator is used specifically for .img files like the ones mentioned in the http://www.moblin.org/projects/projects_image-creator.php instructions.
