Installing Ubuntu Netbook Remix on OLPC XO Laptop

Asked by Rocky_IV

         Hello

Will it be possible to install Ubuntu Netbook Remix on my OLPC XO machine?
I want to be able to use my XO with a configured operating system for adults.
Could you please link me to a ScreenShot tutorial as I have difficulty with extensive technical written instructions.

Is it better to dual boot Netbook Remix with the existing XO operating system or format the flash drive and install the stand alone version of Netbook Remix.

Is it also possible to install - VMware Workstation 5.5 and boot Netbook Remix from it.

Also I'm positive I'll need additional help getting the Wireless communication configuration to work.

Thanks
Rocky

I second this question, I would very much like to use the green beast with a standalone Ubuntu.

I installed Netbook Remix on my XO though you should know the procedure is somewhat nastier than getting Ubuntu installed. Also, it's pretty slow. If you're still interested I wrote an article on my experiences at Icrontic.com: http://icrontic.com/articles/ubuntu_net_remix_olpcxo . Unfortunately due to the number of dirty hacks that need to be made I didn't really feel it was appropriate to target the article for all audiences.
