Ubuntu Netbook Remix

turn of compiz?

Hi, I was wondering. Everybody is saying turn of compiz. but me with only little knowledge of ubuntu 8.04 do not know how to. Would someone please explain tome how to deactivate Compiz so it won restartagain?

System -> Preferences -> Appearance
