web pages not fitting screen

Asked by Andy Scott on 2010-11-08

Some web pages are to large and need the horizontal nav / scroll bar to see all, never had this problem in 10.04 Netbook remix.

Dell mini 9 Maverick 10.10 Netbook remix.

is the browser maximized? Have you been messing with user.js to remove scrollbars?

Couple of possibilities -- note I don't use the netbook edition, so...

* Should be using display resolution of 1024x600, to match your actual screen resolution -- check this is set properly
* Some web pages are larger than a netbook's screen; this is the choice of the web page designer. You can disable their layout files (but this can make the website look crap) by selecting View->page style->no style

Alternately, you can maximise the app (F11?) to remove anything but the page and scrollbars from the active view.

Yes the browser is maximized but no full screen & no I haven't been messing with user.js whatever that is.

It was ok in 10.04 but since switching to 10.10 and the unity side bar some not all pages need the horizontal scroll bar, if I go to full screen then its no problem but shouldn't it work ok otherwise.

Thanks, but screen res is OK 1024x600, worked OK before 10.10 unity I think the side launcher is the problem. going full screen is OK but not really a fix.

sounds like you had a different screen resolution before and it's been changed since.
if you grab one of the corners and resize the browser window, it should work.

Andy Scott (andy-scott14) said : #6

Thanks, but screen res is the same as in 10.04 & grabbing browser window corner and resizing makes no difference as all available space is used, I think it is a 10.10 unity problem with the side launcher bar on small screens as there is no problems with browsers in full screen, not all web pages are a problem, just never a issue with 10.04 netbook remix.

Adderall and Effexor here: the best, most productive 6 months I've had in my life.

Effexor only now, and any time I bring up Adderall, I get talked down off of it like I'm a desperate high school/college student looking to crush and snort it. I hope this new psych I see next month treats me like an adult.
