netbook dide,nt install touch pad

Asked by JEFF HEMEKE

i,ve finally got net-book 10.10 installed on my note book. but it didn't install the mouse pad. this is what the download said. alps ps/2 alps glide point touch pad found, adding input device. applying alps ps/2 glide-point driver 1.2.2. then it says, no supported touch-pad found. alps ps/2 glide-point no synaptics event found. prelmt failed. unload module:synaptics, and one more thing, i went to root, typed in passwd rocalotjeff1 and changed my password, because the old one didn't work. it said password successfully reset, but when i try to log into the computer it dosent work. is there a specific way to do it? now i have 2 computers my desk top works flawlessly with ubuntu desktop 10.10. i would really like it to work on my laptop. i love this program, it,s fast and works well i can download the mouse pad driver from toshiba, and put it on a usb stick, if i can figure out how to do that, is there a way to put it on my laptop? thank you very much for your support. jeff. ps should i have loaded netbook-remix?
