adding program to /opt

Asked by Lapis

Hi, i downloaded a linux program for e-music. It works perfectly. The only thing is that the program's files are now in my personal folder. The only way to start the program is by launching it from there. Now I would like to transfer these files to the /opt directory so I can launch the program the usual way, by choosing it from the list. I have no access to the opt-file and there is probably a good reason for this. So I need some help from someone who knows what he or she is doing, unlike me :) Thanks in advance for your help.

Same problem here... however, /opt is empty in my installation.
As I have a "trial" installation in my personal folders, I used "MainMenu" in the "System/Preferences" section to add an item for the installed software. First select the right section, however!
