I only get 1024x768 max for external LCD video, and I want to use my LCD in full as in Windows.

Asked by Lone Ranger

I want to use my MSI Wind U123 with an external LCD using the display recommended resolution (1920x1080). I can archive this in Windows, but not in UNR. My graphic card is an Intel 945gse. When I connect the external monitor and I go to the "display" utility, it detects my external monitor (a 23" Samsung) but it allows me to choose up to 1024x768, leaving black stripes, here is a picture:

Another related problem is that after using it in this setup, "desktop" turn very slow, looks like I got this situation:
https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/netbook-remix/+question/61326
So I did the same as he did (deleted 3 lines) and it worked fast again (at least at my little screen, didn't try the 23"again).
But my question is how to enable 1920x1080 in UNR.
BTW, I bought this netbook because according to this page:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupport/Machines/Netbooks#MSI%20Wind%20U123
This netbook "Works 100% out of the box".

I solved: First I deleted the 3 lines as stated in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardwareSupport/Machines/Netbooks#MSI%20Wind%20U123. This solved the slow refresh as the poster said.
Then I reconnected the monitor and started again (that is, reboot) and now I can use 1920x1080.
The problem was originated, I guess, that I tested the computer with another monitor (in the show room when I was about to buy this one) before hooking this new monitor.
