parent folder button is missing

Asked by JaVaEs

Since the removement of the parent folder button my workflow got worse. i think the parent folder should brought back to nautilus-elementary, at least for me it's fundamental to a file browser. horizontally should be enough space for that.

The Up button has been removed because it's a duplication: u already got the parent folder functionality in the breadcrumb. what is a breadcrumb? it draws all the directories from the root. So it presents you, all the different possibles parent folders u can go in one click. no need to up/up/up button.

Anyway if you don't wanna change your habits, and prefer to click blindly many times on a "up" button u can still do it.
just edit this file: /usr/share/nautilus/ui/nautilus-navigation-window-ui.xml
u find at the end the following line: <!-- <toolitem name="Up" action="Up"/> -->
remove the <!-- --> and here u go u'll have the up button back

Sometime it's good to change our habits to improve our workflow but it's up to you ;)

What will you do if the next version of nautilus-elementary goes semantics with tags etc. What's the Up button/ parent folder of a tag? Will you change yours habits? :P
