Ubuntu Fiesty Fawn Partition Help needed

Asked by PhilB

Recently caught the feisty Faun, wanted to install as part of a dual boot. XP laptop. However the install wasnt helpful as it wouldnt get past the partition sequence , claiming there was not a correct file system. Had set up a 2GB swap and 8GB root. Whats the right way to set the partitions?

I'm in my first install of mythbuntu and I think I might be running into a similar problem. I noticed that the only filesystems it can format by default are ext2/3, reiser and swap. Since I like to use xfs, it would crash when it got to partitioning.

I didn't think to look for xfsprogs on the CD, but I downloaded it from packages.ubuntu.com, installed it, then tried again and it worked.

You'll need to install the programs for that and jfs (and maybe others).

I hope this helps
