Request to change /var/www/mythweb/index.html

Asked by LarryJ

At least two of us think that the default /var/www/mythweb/index.html could be changed to be more helpful.

I wonder if index.html could be changed in future editions of mythbuntu to something like the suggestion contained in the discussion found here:

It is certainly possible. I converted this to an Enhancement/wishlist bug so it can be tracked for possible inclusion in a future release.

He has bigger problems than hiding mythweb if this is exposed to the internet (do we want to warn him about this here as well?)

Yes, a warning and the location of the file would be helpful. The
192.168.1.106 just happens to be the IP of my mythbuntu box . So that
will change depending on the LAN. Would it be possible query the
mc.sql database to see what the mythbuntu box master server IP is?
Maybe it's localhost, or as in my case, 192.168.1.106 then present that
in line perhaps like this?

To access mythweb, try http://[insert MC.SQL hostIP query result here]/mythweb/mythweb.php

Or perhaps
To access mythweb, try http://*mythbuntuServerIP*/mythweb/mythweb.php
where *mythbuntuServerIP* is obtained from within mythtv's myth backend setup ->1. General -> Master Backend -> IP address.

Or just do what you think is best! I've probably made this too complicated. {;-)

That is on possibility. Or the .html file could provide a relative link rather than absolute, so just "mythweb/mythweb.php".

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask LarryJ for more information if necessary.
