Cannot install: SQUASHFS read error

Asked by ucapajr

When installing I get a scrolling list of SQUASHFS error's complaining that data cannot be read. I've mounted the live CD and then copied the SQUASH filesystem file onto a HD and mounted it, no error: so the CD does not seem to be corrupted.

I'm using a Fujitsu Siemens Server (pre-blade) of some type other, sorry I can't be more precise at the moment ;( But the machine instals edgy without issue. Can anyone give me advice on installing manually; .e.g can I copy the files from the filesystem.squahsfs file onto a HD myself & then configure grub?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

Squashfs errors are likely caused by a bad burn. Can you use the boot option to check the disk before you choose to "install"?

Another common reason for squashfs error messages in livecd booting is bad memory modules. Users are advised to run memtest86+ to verify
