mytharchive problem

Asked by jeffcampbell

I have yet to get mytharchive to work, I get as far as the log viewer and then it sits there doing nothing. I have confirmed that my Python is the newest version and it has the mysqlbd and imaging modules, I'm also ok with mjpegtools, dvdauthor, ffmpeg and dvd+rw-tools. I could not find information on cdrtools. Is it still being used or they using cdrecord? I have yet to check on transcode.
I need to know how to give write access to the mythtv user for temporary files, what directory/file are they referring to anyway? Also temp DVD directory are they refering to? So you know what I am referring to I got my troubleshooting information from here: http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/MythArchive
Lastly, what log files should I be looking at to see what is failing for mytharchive?

my system is a simple frontend and backend on the same box.

thanks,

Jeff

By default, no temporary directory is actually defined for mytharchive. You will need to do to the settings to create/choose one initially. The versions for the applications shipping with mytharchive shouldn't be an issue though.

Ok, I did create a temp directory. Now the question in regards to that is the user who I see as root need to be changed? If so I take it the user should be mythtv user. What bash command would I use to do that?

chown mythtv:mythtv -R DIRECTORY

Should do the trick.

ok, thanks. How about the log files? Where would I find the log files to show me what mytharchive is doing?

Within the temporary directory, a subdirectory titled logs will be created.
